Celebrating International Translation Day – Bridging Cultures, Connecting Worlds
On 30th of September each year, the world comes together to celebrate International Translation Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of translators and interpreters in bridging language barriers and fostering cross-cultural understanding. At Express Language Solutions, we join in this global celebration with immense pride and gratitude for the incredible work done by our team of dedicated language professionals.
The Significance of International Translation Day
International Translation Day, also known as ITD, has a rich history dating back to 1953 when it was first promoted by the International Federation of Translators (FIT). This date was chosen to coincide with the feast day of Saint Jerome, a patron saint of translators renowned for translating the Bible into Latin. It serves as a reminder of the vital role translation plays in preserving and disseminating knowledge across generations and cultures. 30th of September was officially declared as International Translation Day by the UN General Assembly on 24 May 2017 through its resolution 71/288.
Why Translation Matters
In our increasingly interconnected world, translation and interpreting services are more crucial than ever before. Here are a few reasons why translation matters:

- Business Growth: Translation allows businesses to expand into global markets, reach wider audiences, and engage with customers in their native languages.
- Global Collaboration: In fields like science, medicine, and diplomacy, accurate translation is essential for international collaboration and progress.
- Access to Information: Translation ensures that people from diverse linguistic backgrounds can access important information, from legal documents to healthcare resources.
